School Admissions

Hylton Castle Primary School admissions procedures for Reception places and for Transfer to Comprehensive School follow the guidelines laid down by the City of Sunderland Council.

Nursery Places

At Hylton Castle Primary School Nursery, we take children from their 3rd birthday. You can register your child’s place at the main school office, from their second birthday.

Transferring during the school year

Parents who wish to transfer to our school/transfer from our school during the school year, need to complete a transfer form from their current school and then send to the School Admission Team at the City Hall.  The selected school is contacted by email to see if there is a place in that particular year group and responds back.  Parents are then contacted by letter to say the school has a place for their child, or that a place is not vacant at the moment.

Class numbers

Our school is a one form entry, and our PAN is 30 for year groups Reception up to Year 6. 

Nursery intake is 15 children per each morning and afternoon session.  We do drop offs/pick ups at Castle Kindergarten (which is on our site) so that your child can benefit from the full free 30 hours.
